Cervical Screening

An HPV test, formerly known as a Pap smear, enables early detection and diagnosis of cervical cancer. Cervical cell samples are sent to a pathology laboratory and checked for abnormal genetic material.

Age

Who is eligible?

  • Women aged 25-54: once every 3 years.
  • Women aged 55-64: once every 5 years.
  • Women aged 65 and older who haven't had an HPV test in the last 10 years - one test.

What does Maccabi provide?

Cervical screening at the gynecologist's according to eligibility terms.

  • Please note, instead of undergoing an exam at the gynecologist's, you have the option to use a self-examination kit to collect a sample at home. Only one of the two tests can be performed within the specified period.

How much does it cost?

  • Exam for women aged 25-54 - Free of charge
  • Exam for women aged 55-64 - Free of charge
  • Exam for women aged 65 and older who haven't had an HPV test in the last 10 years - Free of charge
  • Exam deemed medically necessary - Free of charge
  • Exam without medical necessity or outside the age range - 121.40 NIS deductible.

Where is the service provided?

Next steps

  • Schedule an appointment with a gynecologist for an exam.
  • Test results will be available via the Maccabi app, Maccabi Online, and/or at Maccabi’s personal service stations 10 days after the doctor receives them.
